This tool provides the user with a means of searching all notes fields within the system for specific text. This is often useful when looking for specific information that may have been included in previous activities in the system.
The user can access the Notes Search via the Tools menu at the top of Progress. When selected, the user is presented with the following search window.
The user simply has to enter the text they are looking for in the text box at the top of the window. The SEARCH option will then highlight all matches where the search text can be found in any of the system's notes fields.
The results of the search are displayed in the upper half of the window, showing the type of record which contains the note (CofC, SO, PO, etc.), the ID number of the record type (SO No, PO No, Part No, etc.), the note category it can be found in (Internal Notes, General Note, CofC, Part, etc.) and the note containing the matching text.
The user can drill into the ID number to get to the identified note using the "build" button available against the ID field (shown below).
This will open the record containing the note.
