Efficiency Reports

Topic Last Edited 27/05/2016

The query behind the standard employee, work centre, WC Location, WC Cell efficiency detail reports is identical. For the standard efficiency reports (i.e. based on qty booked) the estimated time is the time it SHOULD have taken to manufacture the booked quantity in comparison to the planned time and the WO quantity while the efficiency is based on the qty booked, estimated time and the actual time taken by the employee.

Efficiency By Employee Detail

WO Qty: 100
Planned WO Time (for the 100):180 mins (10mins setup, 170mins run)

NOTE: No estimated times or efficiencies are calculated for setup time booked as quantities are not booked against setup timesheets, only “booked” timesheets.

If the employee spends 30mins working on this WO and booked a quantity of 5 when he jobs off the WO, the calculation would be as follows:

ESTIMATED TIME = (Completed Qty/WO Qty) x Planned Time (setup+run) = (5/100) x 180 = 9mins

So the Estimated Time for a booked qty of 5 units would show as 9 mins.

The efficiency value is calculated as follows:

EFFICIENCY = (Estimated Time / Timesheet Time Booked) x 100 = (9/30) x 100 = 30%

Therefore, the employee efficiency for a booked qty of 5 over a 30min period would be 30%

The only efficiency reports that differ from the standard reports above are the Efficiency By Employee Based On Hours Booked reports. These do not consider booked quantities; only booked time.

“EFFICIENCY BY EMPLOYEE BASED ON HOURS BOOKED DETAIL” report

Using the same example as above:

WO Qty: 100
Planned WO Time (for the 100):180 mins (10mins setup, 170mins run)

If the employee initially spends 30mins working on this WO (10mins setup, 20mins run) and booked a quantity of 5 when he jobs off the WO, the calculations would be as follows:

ESTIMATED TIME (setup) =Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (setup)) x (Planned Setup Time) = (10/10) x (10) = 10 mins
ESTIMATED TIME (run) =Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (run)) x (Planned Run Time) = (20/20) x (170) = 170 mins
EFFICIENCY% (setup) = (Estimated Time (setup) / Timesheet Time Booked (setup)) x 100 = (10/10) x 100 = 100%
EFFICIENCY% (run) =(Estimated Time (run) / Timesheet Time Booked (run)) x 100 = (170/20) x 100 = 850%

After the employee spends a further 40mins (0mins setup, 40mins run) on the job:

ESTIMATED TIME (setup) =Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (setup)) x (Planned Setup Time) = (10/10) x (10) = 10 mins*
ESTIMATED TIME (run) = Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (run)) x (Planned Run Time) = (40/60) x (170) = 113.3333 mins
EFFICIENCY% (setup) = (Estimated Time (setup) / Timesheet Time Booked (setup)) x 100 = (10/10) x 100 = 100%*
EFFICIENCY% (run) = (Estimated Time (run) / Timesheet Time Booked (run)) x 100 = (113.333/40) x 100 = 283.3333%

*(Setup estimated time and efficiency remains the same as no additional setup time has been recorded)

After the employee completes the op (another 150mins later ) (0mins setup, 150mins run):

ESTIMATED TIME (setup) = Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (setup)) x (Planned Setup Time) = (10/10) x (10) = 10 mins
ESTIMATED TIME (run) = Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (run)) x (Planned Run Time) = (150/180) x (170) = 141.6666 mins
EFFICIENCY% (setup) = (Estimated Time (setup) / Timesheet Time Booked (setup)) x 100 = (10/10) x 100 = 100%
EFFICIENCY% (run) = (Estimated Time (run) / Timesheet Time Booked (run)) x 100 = (141.6666/150) x 100 = 94.4444%

Therefore, over the entire operation, and compared against the planned setup and run times, the employee was 100% efficient during the setup, but only 94.444% efficient over the run time. The report summaries by booking type (setup, run, etc) as well as by employee to give an overall average value for estimated time and efficiency.

“BASED ON HOURS BOOKED DETAIL (SUM SETUP AND RUN)” report

Using the same example as above:

WO Qty: q100
Planned WO Time (for the 100):180 mins (10mins setup, 170mins run)

If the employee initially spends 30mins working on this WO (10mins setup, 20mins run) and booked a quantity of 5 when he jobs off the WO, the calculations would be as follows:

ESTIMATED TIME (run + setup) = Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (setup + run)) x (Planned Setup Time + Planned Total Run Time) = (30/30) x (180) = 180 mins
EFFICIENCY% = (Estimated Time (setup) / Timesheet Time Booked) x 100 = (180/30) x 100 = 600%

After the employee spends a further 40mins (0mins setup, 40mins run) on the job:

ESTIMATED TIME (run + setup) = Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (setup + run)) x (Planned Setup Time + Planned Total Run Time) = (40/70) * (180) = 102.857 mins
EFFICIENCY% = (Estimated Time / Timesheet Time Booked (setup + run)) x 100 = (102.857/40) x 100 = 257.143%

After the employee completes the op (another 150mins later ) (0mins setup, 150mins run):

ESTIMATED TIME (run + setup) =Timesheet Time / (Total time recorded against Op (setup + run)) x (Planned Setup Time + Planned Total Run Time) = (150/220) x (180) = 122.727 mins
EFFICIENCY% =(Estimated Time / Timesheet Time Booked (setup + run)) x 100 = (122.727/150) x 100 = 81.818%

Therefore, over the entire operation, and compared against the planned total setup and run times, the employee was 81.8% efficient over the course of the operation. The report summaries this by employee to give an overall average value for estimated time and efficiency.
