Requires Release Flag

Topic Last Edited 27/05/2016

The Release Stock option is a new feature in Progress and allows receipts/parts to be marked as “Requiring Release”. This can be set against the inventory part by default for all receipts for the part or can be marked against each individual receipt too.

The screenshot below shows the inventory record. The Requires Release flag is shown at the bottom. Ticking this against the inventory item will result in the flag defaulting on any of the receipt screens, also shown below on the PO Receipt screen.

As already mentioned, this flag can also be set against individual receipts too on the receipt screens. This does not require the inventory part to be flagged; the user simply marks the individual receipt using the tickbox on the receipt screen.

Once stock has been received and marked as Requiring Release, it can be seen in the parts Stock Status screen. The screenshot below shows this.

The stock received is still listed under the ACTIVE stock section of the Stock Status screen, but the quantity requiring release is shown in brackets alongside the total ACTIVE stock quantity. The batch is also visibly marked to indicate that it requires release.

If the stock has been approved for use, the batch needs to be “released” for use. This is done via the Inventory section of Progress. The option for this is shown below.

Clicking this option presents the user with the following screen. The user can search/filter for specific parts if required, but clicking REFRESH will present all parts and batches currently awaiting release.

To release the inventory, the user simply has to tick the RELEASE STOCK option and click ACCEPT.  The user can add GRN and/or Release Notes on this screen too if desired.

Once released, the stock simply returns to standard ACTIVE stock.
