Press Release- F1 Manufacturer Creates New Business Unit

January 2010

F1 component manufacturer BRP Composites has established a new business unit aimed at providing clients with a whole project solution.

The Surrey-based business - which supplies a range of carbon fibre components to the F1 sector - has created BRP Machining to deliver a more efficient and enhanced service to its expanding customer base.

In order to support this business expansion, BRP has upgraded to the multi-company version of production control software ProgressPlus.

ProgressPlus - developed by Glasgow-based Berkeley Myles - streamlines, automates and integrates the management and control of shop-floor production and administrative processes.

The system has been deployed throughout the Composite Division of BRP for the past two years, covering all aspects of process control including sales, manufacturing, reporting, stock control, despatch and invoicing.

Operations manager Peter McKenzie says ProgressPlus has delivered significant efficiency savings across the business and provided the platform to grow and establish BRP Machining.

"Quite simply I couldn't live without it," he said.

"One of the main reasons for implementing the system is that F1 teams require full traceability throughout the lifecycle of product.

"ProgressPlus has significantly improved the robustness of our processes and reporting mechanisms, giving our clients complete confidence that their components will meet stringent design specifications and be delivered on time.

"We now have a more efficient way of working and greater in-depth reporting tools that enable us to analyse areas in which we can make efficiency gains across the business.

"The software has been a key driver in the continued development of the business and has given us the platform to establish BRP machining which will enhance our offering and deliver further value to our clients."

Peter added that the ProgressPlus also benefits from a remote customer support service.

He said: "The responsive customer service is second to none and is a value added benefit that allows us to fully realise the true potential and capability of the software package."

Berkeley Myles managing director Tony MacBride said: "We have developed a successful partnership with BRP Composites and are delighted to continue our support to the business throughout its current expansion phase.

"Businesses are recognising that it is the most efficient and lean companies who will survive the current economic conditions.

"More and more companies throughout the manufacturing industry are now adopting our ProgressPlus software and recognising that it can play a significant part in helping them to achieve the necessary efficiency gains and pass stringent quality audits by prospective clients."

"We have experienced significant growth in the past year as a result of this demand and our teams will continue to be across the country showing why ProgressPlus is the only true option for companies serious about improving their production control."
