Press Release- ProgressPlus Supports Dormor Machine in Downturn

October 2009

Dormor Machine has claimed that ProgressPlus production control software has increased its competitiveness throughout the economic downturn.

Dormor MachinesThe software has now been deployed throughout the company, covering all aspects of production control including sales, manufacturing, reporting, stock control, despatch, and invoicing.

Accounts director Helen Cameron-Clarke said: "There is now an increased level of competition across the market and it's therefore crucial that you have that edge over your competitors.

"ProgressPlus has dramatically improved the business by making us more efficient, leaner and competitive throughout the economic downturn."

The company - which operates from a 7000 sq ft manufacturing site in Middlesbrough and employs 26 people - is hoping to gain the ISO 9001 management accreditation this year.

Mrs Cameron-Clarke said that ProgressPlus - which streamlines, automates and integrates the management and control of shop-floor production and administrative processes - had been a key factor in the business being in a position to achieve the accreditation.

"Without ProgressPlus we would have not been in a position to achieve such high quality control standards," she added.

Dormor Machine used an accounting software package before implementing ProgressPlus.

The accounts director said the system was extremely time consuming with a significant amount of duplication.

"We also had to update job books manually and it was very difficult to track the job history of a live order," she added.

"With ProgressPlus we have significantly cut back on our administration and have full traceability from order to delivery."

"We now have ready access to all management information and can better cost new work by looking at historical jobs and considering where we can make efficiency gains."

ProgressPlus has been developed by Glasgow-based Berkeley Myles.

Managing director Tony MacBride said: "We have developed successful partnership with Dormor Machine and have supported it throughout its development programme by helping it drive efficiency across all of its shop floor and management processes."

"At a time when the manufacturing industry is reported to be in a recession, businesses are recognising that it is the most efficient and lean companies who will survive the current economic conditions.

"More and more companies throughout the manufacturing industry are now adopting our ProgressPlus software and recognising that it can play a significant part in helping them to achieve the necessary efficiency gains and pass stringent quality audits by prospective clients.

"We have experienced significant growth in the past year as a result of this demand and our teams will continue to be across the country showing why ProgressPlus is the only true option for companies serious about improving their production control."
